Suggested Campaigns and Action Projects

“Stop the Violence”
Blue Ribbon Week Campaign
Week of March 22-26 
School Activities

                   Decorate the school with blue ribbons in spirit of youth crime watch.

                   Create “YCW Stop the Violence posters” on various youth crime prevention topics and post  them throughout the school.

                   Coordinate YCW Stop the Violence assemblies.

                   Conduct a “YCW Stop the Violence Day” for parents with skits, songs and other student performances.

                   Coordinate a “YCW Safety Day” event in the school by inviting numerous crime prevention educators, law enforcement officers, and elected officials to speak to students on youth prevention topics.

                   Develop anti-violence slogans and post them up as posters in designated areas throughout the schools.

                   Launch your program with the release of blue balloons – as many as possible.

                   Announce a “YCW Safety Tip of the Day” each day during the morning announcements.

                   Coordinate an anti-violence rally.

                   Coordinate a “YCW Student Speak-Out” where students can voice out their crime prevention action plans.

                   Sponsor a contest (essay, poster, poem, theme song, etc.) for YCW “Stop the Violence” Blue Ribbon Week.

                   Coordinate a “YCW Blue Ribbon Week” Door Contest by having students decorate their classroom doors with crime prevention messages, posters, etc.

                   Sponsor a YCW Blue Day of YCW Blue Rally where everyone is encouraged to wear blue – blue socks, blue hats, blue shirts, etc.  Give an award to the class who is covered in the most blue.

Buckle-Up Stencil Available for Loan.

Youth Crime Watch of Kentucky is pleased to be able to make available to Kentucky Schools the "Buckle-Up" stencil. This stencil will allow you to place an important message on school property or in the community. Display a positive reminder for students to use their safety belts. Partner with the school custodial staff or local public works department to provide paint and equipment. The stencil is available for loan, free of charge.
